The Grass is Greener Where you Water it !

Lets Talk About It

‘The grass is always greener on the other side’. An idiom spoken millions of times to convey the message that things aren’t always what they seem. It refers to how we often look at other people’s situations and compare what they have to what we don’t. I’m writing this newsletter for you today to remind you that the grass is greener where you water it.

The theft of comparison

Many of us struggle with the sneaky thief of comparison. It steals our joy, our love and our accomplishments. ‘How come he has an apartment at 25 and I don't ‘How come she has a man with money and I don't’ ‘How come I didn't graduate with honors like him’. All comparison does is tear us down and bring others up. This causes a psychological issue where you see everyone as higher than basically making yourself lesser than. You are putting yourself in a position where you are looking at everyone else's garden and not tending to your own. You're neglecting the weeds and the snakes that are specifically there to steal and take away your nutrients to gaze upon your neighbors garden.

Tend to your Garden

So instead of looking at others gardens while your garden is dying. Give it love and attention. Learn to appreciate what you have. Don't be complacent but be satisfied even in your lack. When you are going through seasons where you're in ‘lack’ or you are not where you wanna be in life. This is the time when you make it your mission to be grateful. For gratefulness is an act of love. And love is what is needed for your flowers to flourish.
