The Disease of Convenience
Written by, Donaven Clarke
Lets Talk About It
As the years grow and technology advances we as a people are beginning to value the ease of convenience over everything. We value it over quality, quantity and even monetary value. Just look at the explosion of food delivery apps such as, Uber Eats, Doordash and Grubhub. Nowadays people would rather pay over $10 for a coffee from Starbucks rather than walking a half mile to get it themselves. `
Now don’t get me wrong convenience is great and a lot of technological advances have been made with convenience in mind. Most likely your probably reading this on your phone. However we must understand that too much of anything is not good. And unfortunately too much convenience in ones life is an absolute cancer to themselves and society.

The Comfort Zone
We all have an invisible bubble around us called The Comfort Zone. This bubble can consist of your favorite food, a vice, where you live, and even your day to day schedule. These are all things that can be altered and tailored to your exact convenience.
Whenever you may want cookies from the bakery you can order it. If you don’t feel like taking the bus you can order an uber. If you don’t feel like exercising you can go online and acquire Ozempic.
All these situations on the surface level may seem good and acceptable but in all actuality they are NOT.
The Dangers of Comfort
As the saying goes, “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times”. America has been privileged since the world wars of the 20th century. In 2026 we have trillion dollar companies, phones that have A.I and shots that help you lose weight. And unfortunately our men and our people have grown weak. Spiritually, mentally and physically. We have lost touch with God and what it truly means to be human.
As a people we are meant to go through struggle, we are meant to learn, we are meant to write, to move, to lift, to live.
As a student, depend on your own ability to write not A.I. As an overweight individual, rely on diet and exercise and not on Ozempic. Cook at home instead of spending money you don’t have on UberEats.
Understand that it is ok to embrace convenience but never at the expense of your own self worth.
