Motivation is Overrated
Written by, Donaven Clarke

What is Motivation
Motivation is the general desire of an individual to do an action. It is an emotion driven from one's current circumstances. A tool used by millions to kickstart a journey. That can regard weight loss, starting a new study, entering into business and simply just starting a new path in life. But let's ask ourselves what happens when that spark of motivation runs its course.

The Fuel for the Journey
God gave us motivation to utilize as a tool, not a crutch. Motivation is meant to be the gasoline that helps fuel the beginning stages of the fire and God will help provide you with the wood to keep the fire going. But our job is to get up and carry the wood to place it. I have seen and heard many accounts of people who get fired up to lose weight. But two weeks later the motivational high that they were receiving wears off and once they have to pick up their own wood they believe that the weight is too much to bear.
What Should I do When Motivation Strikes
Ladies and gentlemen we must remember that God will never start a fire that you have no power to control and harness. Use the spark of motivation to begin your journey and stop making excuses. People love to be coddled and convenience. Runoff the highs of emotions and as soon as a bump arises, just move on to the next. When motivation strikes we MUST take it upon ourselves to grab a hold of our goal and take what is rightfully ours. When your fire is sparked use the tools provided by God and GO.
Why is Motivation Overrated?
So you may be wondering, ‘since it's the spark for a new journey and motivation is a tool given to us by God, why are you suggesting that it's overrated ?’. Well it is simply due to the fact that so many of us use it as a crutch. Then once motivation goes away we use it as a scape goat as to why we are no longer embarking on that new journey. John says to Paul, “Hey Paul did you start that business yet?” Paul says to John, “Nah i ran into some logistical issues and I kinda ran out of motivation so I'm not thinking about it right now.” There are millions of conversations just like that, and that is exactly why I state that motivation is overrated.
