Be Better Than Yesterday
Written by, Donaven Clarke
Lets Talk About It
To succeed is to be relentless in your efforts. To push forward against opposition. To get up and go even when you don't want to. Be Better than Yesterday. This phrase was given to me by God when I was 17, during a season of weight loss and gym sessions. I had a rough Monday. My mental health was off, I was tempted by sweets, and my gym session didn’t go well. Be Better than yesterday ! Then came Wednesday—I had a great day. I ate three clean meals, drank two liters of water, and chose healthy snacks. Be Better than yesterday ! This was the phrase that kept me humble and relentless no matter if I fell into temptation, stayed disciplined, or overall had a pretty mundane day.

What does it mean and why should I apply it to my life?
To be better than yesterday is as simple as it gets... Be better than yesterday. I don’t want to sound redundant, but once you get this way of life into your head, nothing is stopping you. And remember, success and improvement happen in small increments. So, it’s imperative that to truly adopt this mindset, you MUST celebrate your small victories.
You lost 0.5 pounds, you made $50 more in a week, or you only skipped the gym once this week instead of your usual two days. In the grand scheme of things, none of these victories are small. It takes a multitude of wins throughout a journey to reach success.
For example, you did well on your diet on Monday—Be better than yesterday. You had a huge cheat meal on Saturday—Be better than yesterday. This way of life keeps you stable in defeat and humble in your victories, so you know the job isn't done and that you MUST push forward.
